Extra Tools To Help You Clean Your Teeth
We’ve come a long way from the simple manual toothbrush and floss. There are many dental aids sold in stores to help you keep your teeth and gums their healthiest. Many of these aids work better, are easier to use, and promote even better oral health.
Consider An Electric Toothbrush
There is a range of electric toothbrushes available on the market today. The essence of these brushes is that they clean your teeth for you, while your job is to ensure access to all tooth surfaces. Electric toothbrushes use a brushing motion that helps sweep bacteria away and achieve more and better brushing in 2 minutes than you can with a manual toothbrush. Some electric toothbrushes even come with a pressure indicator to help prevent aggressive brushing, which leads to gum recession.
Water floss
Water floss helps to remove bacteria at the gum line and between teeth. This device is perfect for people with braces, lots of restorative work, or low dexterity. The water floss sprays a jet of water to flush out bacteria, acting like a power washer or water machine used during a professional dental cleaning. Some water flossers are even built into electric toothbrushes.
End tuft brush
This is similar to a manual toothbrush but has fewer bristles in a smaller head. The reason for this is to access difficult-to-reach areas, such as back molars or the back side of the lower front teeth. Because of its smaller size, an end tuft brush is best suited as a supplemental aid for difficult-to-reach areas.
Interdental brush
This brush helps to clean between teeth. It looks like a thin pipe cleaner, comes in different diameters, and will fit between teeth. It can be used instead of, or in addition to, flossing. It is also handy for difficult-to-reach areas, dental braces and dental prosthetics.
Floss threader
If there are areas inaccessible to flossing, such as with fixed retainers, bridges and braces, threaders help to gain access to the gum line with floss. A threader is a small loop you use to put your floss through and thread it at the gum line.
Dental picks
Products such as stimulants, floss wands, soft picks, etc., can help maintain excellent oral hygiene.
